What is worse, paying for laborers that are productive, or paying a 'social safety net' payment to those who think that working is beneath them?

    Good point.

The protestors are just idealistic idiots, however. They want someone to hand them something rather than working and creating a business like Bezos did.

That reminds me -- I need to order something -- I'll buy it from Amazon!

Because his parents weren't going to give that money to a non-family member.

Eventually you’ll still be left with the same problem, there won’t be enough “valuable” positions to go around.

Then you go into business yourself. There is plenty enough financial aid for small business start ups.
The down side is that it requires effort and work. If you aren't going to work for it, you shouldn't get a hand up.
I started out working for the other guy. I didn't like the pay and the hours were ruthless. (construction) So I started up my own business. I wasn't ruthless and often times went without a check to make sure my crews got paid, during the initial start up.
Eventually, I owned two houses outright, and had a thriving business that I sold when I retired.
It is important to point out that I did not come from money. I only hand a few hundred in the bank and never got a loan.
