That's nice but lynching which, as far as it had anything to do with race and innocent people, was a product of racism and white supremacy. Secondly, the author isn't claiming what Common is claiming.

We had lots of de facto segregation in 1971.I know, as I had 12 apartment managers I had to deal with when in the pool biz. Some were blatantly racist.
One Cracker ran a complex in Santa Clara, CA and had all blacks living there. He evicted them all, then the Mexicans moved in, He evicted all of them! I knew a few who openly said they didn't rent to blacks. I reported them to the General manager. Nothing happened!
