Wow, sir, now you made my day! Outstanding! It's not so frequent to see such a nice attitude change like this, in an internet forum. Apology accepted although it wasn't really necessary but it's appreciated anyway. Thank you for you kind words. Cheers!

So, I've noticed that Mitch McConnell has been not only wearing a facemask, but also strongly advocating for the population to do the same.

So, how do you guys conciliate Mitch's opinion, with your take that insisting with masks is some sort of Dem ploy to bring conservatives down, or some sort of politically-driven agenda to damage Trump, or some attempt for big government to gain power and control others?

I think there's nobody who did more for the conservative cause in America for the last 12 years than Mitch McConnell. MUCH more than President Trump himself. The very reason why conservatives enjoy a majority in the Supreme Court is Mitch. The very reason why the Dems failed miserably in their effort to impeach Trump is Mitch.

There is *absolutely no way* for anybody to even start questioning Mitch McConnell's bona fide conservative credentials... He may be THE smartest conservative politician in America, today, and he has been that, for a long time.

However, he wears facemasks and came out as a strong advocate for their use by the population.

Now what? Is he some alarmist and paranoid Democratic partisan hack with a left-wing agenda???

That is easy. It is a necessary measure to appease the ignorant masses.

Good on CF and Countryboy. Don't let either party hear about this as the only thing keeping their assess in the chairs on Capitol Hill is divisionism and they will not like civil discourse!

Easy? I'd say, too easy an explanation. So, despite all that we've talked about and the scientific studies I linked to, you are still considering that wearing a mask is proof of ignorance?

    So, this is ignorant, right?

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/l...142-9/fulltext

172 observational studies across 16 countries and 6 continents + 44 comparison studies.

    216 freaking studies.

Result: "Face mask use could result in a large reduction in risk of infection"

But no, according to you, that's ignorant, right?

I'd say, the explanation is that Mitch McConnell, a VERY intelligent man (a brilliant political mind) has realized that this harmless and simple measure can reduce the contagion in the United States as shown by freaking 216 scientific studies, has adopted it for himself, and has recommended it to the people. This decisively conservative politician, likely the most brilliant conservative of them all and someone who has done more for the conservative cause than just about anybody, doesn't think that facemasks are some sort of leftist ploy. He thinks that they are helpful (and he's right about that).

Virtually all health officials around the world think so, too.

But no, it's just ignorance, right? Okaaaay...

    @Cletus

This table shows ABSOLUTE PROOF of mask efficacy, both N95 respirators and surgical masks, both in the healthcare setting and community setting. Observe that these studies were obtained on coronaviruses contagions only, the SARS-CoV-2 (the agent for COVID-19), the SARS-CoV (the agent for the first SARS pandemic) and the MERS-CoV (the agent for the MERS epidemic). Those are all the same size, defeating the objections some made that masks wouldn't filter out the small coronaviruses.

This kind of large meta-analysis with this kind of result is Category 1 evidence. In other words, irrefutable proof.

Observe that almost all these studies have results that fall into the "favor face masks" camp.

I have copied the link to this post of mine and will link to it again every time someone says that masks don't work.

Well he is a partisan hack. Out of what 535 congressmen I think only a handful are working for the people. The rest are too busy campaigning , pandering or selling influence and doing insider trades.
I honestly believe we could have abetter congress via lottery
