Masks should not be a political issue, dammit!

I've been saying it over and over, but it is refreshing to see someone else saying it too, and drawing an interesting comparison to WWII... I've said in another thread today that instead of being united to combat a common enemy (the virus) we are at each others' throats with the maskless people yelling "sheep" at the masked ones, and the masked ones yelling "covidiot" at the maskless ones.

So, this doctor, in a specialized publication for physicians, is venting his frustration with the issue of masks being politicized, instead of simply being seen as a matter of public health:

Turns out that a right wing publication, the Wall Street Journal, also thinks that masks should not be controversial:

Are you trying to convince someone?

Don't you think that people have already made up their mind?

Do you think nagging them is going to make anyone more likely to wear a mask?

Do you think that seeing paranoid people running around saying the sky is falling is going to make people think putting on a mask represents sanity?

The problem with seeing mask as a public health issue is that in this case they aren't one.
The CDC ( scientific organization) told us mask were not effective, then suddenly it mask at all times! The change came after NO NEW SCIENCE!

The CDC lied, confessedly. They were trying to preserve masks for healthcare workers and avoid a run to masks. When they realized that masks went sold out anyway because China gobbled them all up, they changed their tune.

I mean, what are they called? PPE. Personal PROTECTIVE Equipment. Of course they work. Otherwise why would they want to conserve them for healthcare workers?

Do you think that when a healthcare worker is dressed head to toe with gowns, masks, and face shields when treating COVID-19 patients, they are trying to... protect the already heavily contaminated patient from what, catching the virus that is already rampant by billions of copies inside the patient? Of course not. They are trying to avoid catching the disease themselves. They are protecting themselves. Masks protect.

What do you mean, no new science? There are scientific studies showing the efficacy of masks, released all the time!

Fauci is a loyal Democrat and that is why they support Mr. Changing positions man.

Wear a mask. Don't wear one. Wear just a cloth one.
Travel to China. Don't travel. Just don't go to China.

    Why should anyone trust him?

    Yes.
    No.
    Yes.
Yes. (except that people wearing masks are not paranoid. I've already explained this point to you)

Who says I'm trusting him? I said repeatedly, he lied about masks. And confessedly so. He said it in all words in a recent TV interview.

I trust the 211 scientific studies showing that masks work.

Plus the immense common sense that even calls masks, PPE. Personal PROTECTIVE Equipment.

Not breathing always works. Quality of life is a measurement that some people include in their restrictions vs risk decisions.

You can't promise anyone any level comfort because contact also spreads the virus. You don't know who touched that can on the grocery store shelf. People are constantly touching their masks that they reuse...

Yes, people don't know how to wear them properly and how to take care of them. It's because we never had a proper educational campaign. Our leaders are trying to score political points in their bids for re-election (both sides) instead of trying to educate the people and lead by example. Sad.
