I find it funny to see people claiming that this is protecting “our history” and “our heritage” when the list of people Trump included in his Executive Order includes multiple Republican politicians and no Democrats and Antonio Scalia as the only Supreme Court Justice.

In case anyone has any questions about the Dumpster Boy actually being able to get this done, even in the unlikely even he was to win.

It’s actually far more accurate to say that Senators from Northern states (of both parties) passed the bill. Here’s the party/geographic breakdown of the final Senate vote (percentages voting in favor of passage):

Southern Democrats - 5%
Southern Republicans - 0%
Northern Democrats - 98%
Northern Republicans - 84%

Of the 73 votes in favor of final passage, 46 were Democrats and 27 were Republicans. 72 of the 73 were from Northern states (Democrat Ralph Yarborough of Texas was the one exception).

It says "would include". That suggest, at least to me this is not a complete list of American Heroes. Some of the names are obviously for PC purposes only. I think Betsy Ross, Amelia Earhart and Christa McCauliffe are on the list simply because they are women. There are other women who are more deserving in my opinion.

The Republicans were the minority party. There was not enough Democratic support for the bill. It took Republican support to pass the 1964 civil rights act.
