Peter, this sounds like a conspiracy theory to me. For this to be true, it would have to have happened at the very beginning, when we (just like the Chinese themselves) didn't even know very much about how the virus spread, how infections it was, how long the incubation period was, whether or not asymptomatic transmission occurred and when and for how long (that is, what was the window within which a person was infectious), what was the relative proportion of surface transmission (and for how long was the virus viable and infections in different surfaces) versus person-to-person; if the latter, just by droplets or airborne, that was the distance involved for transmission, how did the virus fare in different environments, and so on and so forth. Therefore, planning for this would involve an absurdly high level of uncertainty. Who would they select for this mission? How would they gauge the peak of infectiousness for those agents?
Look, this is crazy, and far-fetched.

When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.
When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.
And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.
War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.

But......today......we still don't understand exactly what happened or why.....indeed.....we STILL don't even know very much about how the virus spread, how infections it was, how long the incubation period was, whether or not asymptomatic transmission occurred and when and for how long (that is, what was the window within which a person was infectious), what was the relative proportion of surface transmission (and for how long was the virus viable and infections in different surfaces) versus person-to-person; if the latter, just by droplets or airborne, that was the distance involved for transmission, how did the virus fare in different environments, and so on and so forth.
And it is because China refuses to allow investigations into what are seen as possible sources. I am not even 100% positive this virus came out of China. But until we can trace and investigate what, if anything, was going on in the pathogen labs at Wuhan. I believe China owes it to the world to allow teams from all over the world to determine exactly what happened, much of this does appear deliberate. At the very least, sheer negligence.
Yep. If 7 months into it there are still so many uncertainties, let alone in the very first days of the outbreak, for China to pull off what is being claimed by this article.
Generally agreed. The above is not what the article brought up by the OP is claiming, though. And it is because China refuses to allow investigations into what are seen as possible sources. From Peter's link
There is evidence that China covered up the coronavirus's spread, muzzled whistleblowers, intimidated doctors, misled the World Health Organization, and blocked outside health experts. In April, the U.S. intelligence community reportedly believed that the Chinese Communist Party downplayed the outbreak and that China continued to mislead the world. Just this week, the World Health Organization backtracked on its assertion that the Chinese government alerted the United Nations agency about the coronavirus outbreak.
Reckon we're all left to draw our own conclusions. Is this true from Peter's link that the WHO has now backtracked on assertion the Chinese alerted it about the outbreak. That China downplayed and misled the world?

While I have NO idea if China did or did not allow Travelers to the USA, I do know that the Virus Started in China. And that the Chinese Government was a little slow in informing the world of the severity of Covid 19 That is about all the farther that I can get at this time.
Now there are things that make me wonder if there are other elements at play? Rumer's that the virus was a lab experiment. Watching the Democrats Frist denounce the travel ban from China, and Now watching them run Cover? Those are things that make me have questions, But I can't answer them at this time.
Other things that make me have Questions, Several Democrat Gov's allowing or in the case of Whitmer planting the virus in Nursing homes so it would have devastating effects here in MI and on the MI economy Also the Complete Shut down of everything, even in areas were there is no infection, and the totalitarian measures that were taken in some Democrat run States It happened just a little to fast after they were telling us that everything was OK and Trump was Racist against China... Those things leave questions that I can't answer
Not even that is certain (that the virus started in China). Surprisingly, it was found in stored sewage water samples collected in Brazil in early November, like I posted in a thread; this even is also mentioned by this Oxford University expert who doubts it was originated in China:

Yes, they delayed the notification to the WHO by 3 weeks, that part is true. I believe that the reason was in order for them to gobble up all the stocks of PPE (masks, gowns, face shields) that they were about to export to other countries as part of their regular contracts. Suddenly all the exports of PPE from China came to a halt, and THEN AND ONLY THEN they notified the WHO.
I'm no fan of China. I've repeatedly posted that I believe them to be the US's #1 geopolitical enemy, and I've praised President Trump for standing up to them in many of my posts. I wouldn't even put past them these despicable tactics, but just based on what I said above, how hard it would be to pull it off with the amount of uncertainty at the time, I think that the article linked to by the OP is just a conspiracy theory.
