    Secure your internal cargo.

Your life could depending on it.

Today, a couple of hours ago actually. I was the first responder (others arriving shortly afterwards) to a collision of 3 vehicles.

The man in critical condition had the handle of his drill break the parietal bone in his skull causing obvious deformity - shortly after died. His tools sprawled all over the damn cab one of which likely delivered the killing blow.

I confirmed a pulse on this man, but could discern no breathing. We pulled him out of the car and by then the paramedics arrived. Life saving experts we're obviously not successful.

2 other patients. Taken to hospital. Whiplash and acute concussive trauma.

Also, wear your seatbelt. Peter Stewart who died on the road did not.

Sorry you had to see that. You often see things in the back windows of cars that are ready to launch. A text book flying at 60 mph will do some damage.

Life goes on, well mine does at least. My biggest problem is my mood right now. That and this guys blood is still on my right hand. Thought I scrubbed it all off. Just have to wait till I get home to shower though.

All that being said. Maine has some very beautiful scenery.

Just an odd way to finish a vacation/birthday weekend.

I remember reading an article years ago warning that something as small as a cell phone could kill you in a crash. How do you secure groceries? I try not to carry too many tools in the cab, but sometimes it's unavoidable. And my passenger floor is my dry mortar storage area, and usually has 1 to 3 50lb sacks of mortar on it.

I was in a severe crash a couple of years ago, t-boned a car that came into my path while traveling about 60 mph, rolled over a bunch of times. Had tools, some mosaic tile, and a bunch of other stuff in the cab with me. Miraculously, and I mean that literally, I wasn't severely injured. It seems, God isn't through with me on Earth just yet. Seatbelt, airbags, and God's force-field saved my life, and the life of the guy who pulled in front of me.

Maine is great. We used to go to Hermit Island every year on the neck, south of Bath. Sometimes to secluded. Rainy weeks almost led to divorce. LOL

All things considered, I'm very blessed and have little to gripe about, but much to be thankful for.

A couple years ago here, a guy had his license plate taped to the back window of his car. He got into a collision in which he would have survived, but the license plate broke free and it sliced his neck and he bled out.
