This is not an opinion piece. This is Tulsa health official saying this. Tulsa is very republican, otherwise Trump wouldn't have held his rally there.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa in late June that drew thousands of participants and large protests “likely contributed” to a dramatic surge in new coronavirus cases, Tulsa City-County Health Department Director Dr. Bruce Dart said Wednesday.
Tulsa County reported 261 confirmed new cases on Monday, a one-day record high, and another 206 cases on Tuesday. By comparison, during the week before the June 20 Trump rally, there were 76 cases on Monday and 96 on Tuesday.
Although the health department’s policy is to not publicly identify individual settings where people may have contracted the virus, Dart said those large gatherings “more than likely” contributed to the spike.
“In the past few days, we’ve seen almost 500 new cases, and we had several large events just over two weeks ago, so I guess we just connect the dots,” Dart said.

Of course it is always good to go a little beyond the Headline when you are posting LIES!!!!

Just a few things to notice. One they have not traced ONE person to the Trump rally, not one.

Second You will note that this Official says that they had SEVERAL large Gatherings in the area before the spike and they just Connected the dots. OR they just assumed that they came from these events.

Outdoor gatherings in wind and sunlight while many if not most are wearing masks are less likely to spread covid than indoor gatherings were practically no one is wearing a mask.

More importantly, are you aware of any protests of 10,000 people (or even 500 people) in Tulsa?

I think it is amazing when you have a Governor that does not put infected people into the nursing homes to spread the virus and boost the body bag count. How low the death counts can be.

BTW. I do think that mass gatherings by anyone is a bad idea during covid. But i think that it is reprehensible that a politician be organizing mass gatherings and even do so without encouraging masks or distancing. THAT is the outrage. Elected officials need to protect their constituents not use them as fodder for their own own re-election. Trump has already killed many thousands with his lack of leadership. Whats another 500 or so?
