White House asked Pentagon to find misconduct by Vindman to justify denying promotion

This is the reprehensible, childish, vindictive, petty, pointless antics that preoccupy a White House overwhelmed by sickness, rioting, and bleak economics. Be sure to vote for more of this. Trump is more interested in making examples of those that would check his power than saving this country from sinking further.

Alexander Vindman is retiring after being bullied, by the commander in chief and his cronies.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/08/u...peachment.html

    [...]

Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman, a decorated Iraq war veteran...[was]
among scores of officers who have been picked to be promoted to full colonel this year.

    [...]

But the White House had made clear to officials in the Pentagon’s office of personnel and readiness, which handles such matters, that Mr. Trump did not want to see Colonel Vindman promoted, officials said.

Mr. Trump’s allies at the White House asked Pentagon officials to find instances of misconduct by Colonel Vindman that would justify blocking his promotion, administration officials said on Wednesday.

On multiple occasions, including this week, the White House pressed the Pentagon to seek witnesses who would come forward and say that Colonel Vindman acted improperly, the officials said.

But Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper and Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy have been unable to produce such evidence, largely because it does not exist, according to one administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

    [...]

Colonel Vindman’s lawyer, David Pressman, said in a statement that the officer was the victim of campaign of “bullying” and “intimidation” by the White House.

    [...]

Mr. Pressman added, “Vindman did what the law compelled him to do; and for that he was bullied by the president and his proxies.”

This reminds me of the time when Trump claimed that some immigrants were kidnapping people and dragging them across the border bound and gagged in the back of trucks. Trump was repeatedly called out on it, so the White house started canvassing border control to come up with a story to back up his BS. Of course they found none.

Make up sh-t and justify it later, as long as Trump can discourage future whistleblowers. This is not how an American President should behave. This is how petty and scarey authoritarians do.

I wonder if Trump will try to f-ck with Vindman's retirement, like McCabe. What a child.

“Just say the election was corrupt and leave the
rest to me and the Republican congressmen”

It is NYT- it is more likely this is completely made up than true.

I do know Vindman's promotion was held up because of an investigation into him. But that is routine.

It is more likely Vindman did not appreciate his return to the real Army after ending his tour at the NCS and is just $#@!ing about that.

Oh the NY Slimes is worried about Vindmans Promotion. They must need a future anonymous source for Trump's re-election. But then they didn't mention Tammy Duckworth holding up 1100 promotions over Vindman? Imagine that. Did they even ask Tammy about Officers that are under investigation and how that holds up a Promotion?

Lt. Col Alexander Vindman Renounces Promotion, Resigns.....

Another official assured CNN that the Pentagon had effected no changes in the White House’s promotion plans, and that Vindman had already been approved. “This was all handled in a normal process,” the official said.
Reuters corroborated the claim that Vindman would have been promoted.

“He shouldn’t have any fear of retaliation,” Sec. Esper said.

Nevertheless, Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) created a blanket motion to block over 1,000 military promotions, that could only be broken if Esper “confirms in writing that he did not, or will not, block the expected and deserved promotion of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman to Colonel.”.....snip~

I know an officer whose promotion to LTC is held up by Duckworth.

I wouldn't think that a long stint at the NSC is a stepping stone to full colonel. New colonels are typically looked at for command positions (brigade or garrison level), and without the staff and deputy commander jobs prior you stand little chance.

LOL, more unnamed sources from the NY Slime for the useful idiots. Vindman broke protocol by breaking the chain of command, leaked TS material. I could go on but the left loves whiney little snowflakes that thinks he knows better than his superiors. After all this, he had nothing to begin with.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

    War is peace.

    Freedom is slavery.

    Ignorance is strength.

bullsh-t. No you can't. Vindman is squeeky clean. He received stellar performance reviews and is a Iraq veteran.

    You have nothing else.

You are just mad that someone exposes your heroes wrongdoing.
