Three cheers for the Chicago Blackhawks.....

The Chicago Blackhawks this week responded to critics who say they must change their name and logo with a resounding, “Nah.”

A spokesman for the hockey team said Tuesday that the organization, named for the U.S. 86th Infantry Division, which was itself nicknamed in honor of the Sauk Nation war chief Black Hawk, will not rebrand over complaints that its name and logo perpetuate racist stereotypes.

‘‘The Chicago Blackhawks name and logo symbolizes an important and historic person, Black Hawk of Illinois’ Sac & Fox Nation, whose leadership and life has inspired generations of Native Americans, veterans, and the public,’’ the team said in a statement.

It adds, ‘‘We celebrate Black Hawk’s legacy by offering ongoing reverent examples of Native American culture, traditions, and contributions, providing a platform for genuine dialogue with local and national Native American groups. As the team’s popularity grew over the past decade, so did that platform and our work with these important organizations.".....snip~

That's what the Washington Redskins owner said a few years back too. After they have cancelled the Redskins and the Indians, they will come for the Blackhawks. Sports stores will refuse to stock their merchandise, etc.

A shame too, since the Blackhawks logo has been thought by many to be the best logo in sports.

In any case, it appears sports are shortly going to become little more than advertisements promoting Black Lives Matter.

That would present a great opportunity for small sports shop owners to capitalize.

I agree.....Amazon, Walmart, Target and Nike told the Redskins they wont sell their merch. Let them lose business with Sporting goods.

It would make it more collectable.

I have to wonder if they would not allow fans with Redskins Jerseys into the stadium. That would be great if everyone wore them to the games.
