Not surprising, but still shocking, and "shocking" is a goal of American junk food journalism, here with no sex in the sex, just pointless ruse. Is there a shortage of female models? What is SI trying to prove -- that it is craftier than its readers' senses?

Well, comic books are sexless too. Just wow.

No, I'm just surprised that SI still publishes an actual magazine of any kind. I was a subscriber for over 40 years, and cancelled a few years ago when the magazine started going dramatically downhill.

Regardless of where I stand on transgender issues, the first thing that came to mind was "Not like it's real, anyway." The amount of photoshopping and alterations drastically change the images. I realize that men don't want cellulite or muffin tops on their cover models, but it seems odd to request a "real" woman when you weren't getting one to begin with.
