I was a proponent of charter schools in Ohio. It hasn't worked out like I'd hoped. I've represented some pretty crappy schools, the education has been subpar, the accountability not there and the oversight lax. I am still a proponent of vouchers but I've seen that destroy some inner city Catholic grade schools b/c the kids don't have to follow the discipline. I don't have the answers but it hasn't worked like we'd hoped.

Yep, their performance overall has been sub-par at best.

I'm okay with vouchers for parents who want their kids to attend private religious schools.

A ton of the kids I knew who went to Catholic schools did very well in life.

Agree. My daughters both went to Catholic grade school and public high school. They had excellent caring teachers at both levels.

So which is it? Results have been sub-par or equivalent? You say both. It can't be both. You document equivalent. Equivalent is not failure. Unless public school is also a failure.
