You guys don’t seem to understand the difference between protesting the national anthem and protesting during the national anthem. Do you think that someone on a hunger strike is protesting food?

What you fail to realize is that they are using the Country's National Anthem to show their tissue issue protest. Its a sign of disrespect. Plain and simple.

There is nothing preventing them as a team to go out on the street and take a knee for their tissue issue.

Since when is using the national anthem as a marketing tactic "patriotic"? The national anthem is not played at all national sporting events and it was only originally played at football games during WWII to help the war effort i.e. to gain support for U.S. participation, since it wasn't popular. Post-war, certain sports leagues discovered that imbuing sports with patriotism was great advertising and continued the practice. It also psychologically conflates sports with patriotism in the minds of the fans. Edward Bernays would be so proud.

No where else in the world is the national anthem played outside of international competitions with the exception of Canada where the practice spread because of US leagues operating on both sides of the border.

If the problem is the politicizing of the national anthem then the simple solution is to stop playing it at national sporting events.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

First it was the Flag.....now its the National Anthem. Give the leftness an inch they take a mile.

They want to protest.....do it on their own time. Go out as a whole team. Then take a knee in the streets. Go do it in front of City Hall. As a matter of fact.....start visiting the hood. Tell them there Black Lives Matter.

I'm not watching the NBA. They won't miss me and I don't care. The NBA made a statement. They want to play to a small group of people.
