Million Dollar Listings - New York and LA

Mrs. U records these on our Tivo in the den. If you watch these shows, it's always 5, 6, 7, 10, 15 million dollar places on the two coasts. They are great places but some of them are no better than our Medina, Ohio, shack. We have much more property, it's safer, cleaner, better shopping, less noise etc.

I was wondering if there's any correlation between the cost of housing / cost of everything and the disdain of coasters (mostly D's) for the rest of country. In other words, b/c these two coasts did so well under the Obama administration they can't understand what the rest of the country (flyover country) is like and why they'd vote Trump .

We were told by some friends in California that if we took our previous home 3600 sq ft with a full basement and planted on dirt in CA, it would have been worth about 1.5 million. At that time we owned it, it was appraised at $78,000......
Sorry, but I still wouldn't live in CA..........

It does. I can't imagine why people would buy a junk piece of over-priced property for hundreds of thousands of dollars when it should be burned down.....and these CA people look down their nose at the rest of the country. It is the epitome of class envy in CA. The upside is that you only pay property tax at the time of purchase.


I could never understand the need to be property relevant... We've always purchased according to our needs. Since then, we've relocated
To 5 acres in the country with a much smaller house.

The market is what it is. I have a hard time believing the value of my house but I know I could get it.
