D.A. Is Investigating Trump and His Company Over Fraud, Filing Suggests

    Hmmm....bank and insurance fraud...uh huh......

The office of the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., made the disclosure in a new court filing arguing Mr. Trump’s accountants should turn over his tax returns.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office suggested on Monday that it had been investigating President Trump and his company for possible bank and insurance fraud, a significantly broader inquiry than the prosecutors have acknowledged in the past.
The suggestion by the office of the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., came in a new federal court filing arguing that Mr. Trump’s accountants should have to comply with a grand jury subpoena seeking eight years of his personal and corporate tax returns. Mr. Trump has asked a judge to declare the subpoena invalid. Until now, the district attorney’s inquiry had appeared largely focused on hush-money payments made in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election to two women who said they had affairs with Mr. Trump.

In the new filing, the prosecutors did not explicitly identify the matters under scrutiny in the grand jury inquiry, which by law is conducted in secret. But they said that “undisputed” assertions in earlier court papers and several news reports about Mr. Trump’s business practices showed that the office had a wide legal basis for the subpoena.

In light of these public reports of possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization,” there was nothing improper or even unusual about the subpoena, the filing said.
The prosecutors cited newspaper reports, including one that concluded the president may have illegally inflated his net worth and the value of his properties to lenders and insurers. They also included an article on the congressional testimony of his former lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen, who told lawmakers last year that the president had committed insurance fraud. Lawyers for the president have denied wrongdoing.

trump's antics have dominated every news cycle for 3 1/2 years. By design. It keeps stories like this out of the news.

This story is not new. We knew about it before the inauguration. What he did was to inflate the value of his properties when he was borrowing money, but deflate the value of the same property for tax purposes.

He's filthy. They'll eventually get him for laundering Putin's money on the golf courses he paid for in cash. Likewise for the one property he bragged about selling way over market value years ago. Putin laundering money.

2021 is going to be a great year for headlines.

It never ends. They have no evidence and all they're doing is going on a fishing expedition hoping to find something. ANYTHING. One day, this is going to come back and bite the Left in the butt...just like hate crimes legislation.Just like defending and supporting BLM and Antifa.

The IRS has seen those tax returns and audited them.

Expect more charges to be invented probably on a weekly basis.

You're late on posting this. Cyrus Vance Jr. has been very busy lately. Going after the president and letting off looter and rioters, Epstein. The NYPD even have withdrawn any confidence they MAY have had in Vance. He's on the wrong side of the law...every time.

Yes but there was a new filing done today I believe. They are not saying much about it but your right. It's about inflating the value. Honest to god, what kind of President is this? What a scammer. What did he think? He wouldn't get caught?

They might have audited them, but unless they had the documents from the lenders, they wouldn't know that he gave conflicting values for the properties in question.

I've been saying it for years. trump screwed up. He never expected to win. This was a self promotion campaign gone horribly wrong. That's why he was 'white as a ghost' on election night.

What the fool never realized was that he opened his entire criminal enterprise up to scrutiny. That's why he hired Barr as his personal attorney. His 'Roy Cohn'. He's insulated for now, but come Feb. '21, he's going to be spending a lot of time in court.

Further, he put the screws to Cohen, who knows exactly where the bodies are buried.

They have trump's accountants in court. That's why they want the tax returns, and why they will get them.
