    Voting is not a privilege. It is a right and a responsibility. If the government is going to demand proof of identity before exercising a right, there should be a standardized form of identification and because it is required, it should be provided at government expense. Simply design a Voter Identification Card, distribute the format to the states and let them issue them through their DMVs or however they see fit. They could issue the cards to the voters at no cost and simply bill the federal government for the processing cost. The card should be for voter identification only and not valid for any other purpose and it should have no expiration date.

    It's a failing hook -- an easily understood but empty rally cry and a huge lie by democrat anarchists and obstructionists. Did somebody whine "racism"?

    However, I would say there is an implied plea in it from both sides for something that will never die but that won't work -- a massive, government-secured dna depository -- "dinna'" familiarly -- in the democrat house of Satan that will ID every living person in the US and eventually the world, for no other purpose than control.

    What democrats are doing here, as always, is a typically stupid corruption, but one consistent with interests of the voraciously greedy and power hungry in both parties -- namely, a plea for a catch-22, a huge Pandora's box that upon opening will cause far more confusion and evil than not. Neither party would have it any other way.

    Whatever. Creates jobs.

    That's my opinion.

    ID is required to exercise certain rights.

    If the Feds or the states offered these free ID's for the purpose of voting, one still needs to have the ability to prove they are who they claim to be.

    If it has no effect on voter turnout, opposition to it is more questionable than support for it. Ideally you don't want anybody in the country to question election results.

    They also throw in a bunch of subjective crap in that article like "extremely rare" and "credible allegations". There was an elected official in Philadelphia not long ago who got convicted for ballot stuffing. There's no doubt that there are people out there who try to cheat.

    Several states, such as Virginia, have gotten their voter ID laws past SCOTUS muster. The states that didn't need to follow suit with those who made it.

    I have a higher opinion of blacks than that. I don't see where their color makes them inferior to other races when it comes to paying for things.

    I guess you think otherwise.

    Make everything free, because some people are just plain inferior.
    I'm talking about me... If they are going to require an ID for me to vote then they need to provide that ID to me for free.

    Sure there are going to be cases. But as my link stated they are extremely rare...

    Driving =/= Voting

    So you DON'T have to pay for a driver's license? In WHAT parallel universe?

    And driving should not be an AUTOMATIC voting privilege. Voters should be required to REGISTER to vote, and be required to RE REGISTER when they move.

    If you don't think so, it means you plan to commit voter fraud.
