I won’t. The steelhead are 50 miles down river and I’m not keeping cutthroat and salmon season is closed in this particular river. It’s just great getting out away from the city. I can catch and release cutthroat all day long if I want.

Nothing is better than BBQ’d wild steelhead. The farm raised steelhead you get at Costco are not nearly as good

When I was a kid we spent summers up at my parents' house on Lake of the Woods in Ontario and fished daily for walleye. We'd keep a sauger if we caught it, but northerns (the locals called them "snakes), perch, bass, all went back in the water. There are muskies up there too, but I never saw one that wasn't mounted on someone's wall. Walleyes are the best tasting fish I've ever encountered.

From what I've read, cutthroat is a pleasant tasting fish, depending on where it's caught. I'm curious as to why you won't eat the cutthroat that you're catching.

I've never eaten walleye, but then again until the last 20 years or so, I really wasn't much of a fish eater and hadn't eaten any really freshly caught fish. I have definitely learned to appreciate the difference between frozen, fresh farmed and fresh caught fish and nothing beats the latter.

They are good eating, but they are small and I like a slab of fish. I also like to smoke my fish. I don’t like smoking small fish. When it comes to trout I strictly catch and release.

The only fish I keep are steelhead, chinook and coho salmon, Halibut, ling cod, cabezon and crappie

I don't fish, but if I ever try, I hope I catch something that I can eat. It certainly won't be a demonstration of skill. LOL.
