    Former NSA director defends agency

To give another perspective Former NSA under GW BUSH and former Air Force General Michael Hayden defends the agency.

Former National Security Agency Director Michael Hayden on Sunday defended the agency's monitoring, calling it "very effective" and respectful of "civil liberties.

The NSA can only comb through its intelligence database "with probable cause," he said on "Fox News Sunday," adding the NSA cannot listen to phone calls without "ask[ing] the database a question" that proves a link to terrorism or terrorist networks.

President Barack Obama has added "incredible oversight mechanisms" to the agency, Hayden said, but said that both former President George W. Bush and Obama have been responsible towards respecting the rights of ordinary Americans.
Responding to Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and other critics of the Obama administration, Hayden said it was not true that the government is “trolling through billions of records" without respect for due process

No surprise. The people given the task of defending the nation tend to err on the side of defense. They tend to forget about the Constitution.

No. I am saying that they are offering rationalizations that are great. But forget about our Constitution.

I dont see that at all to be honest, the man is explaining from his view as director that its not what all the noise is about

Ok Pete You insinuated that the x director is offering a rationalization not how he actually feels with no regard for the constitution and I said I dont see it that way. I think hes making a fair statement on what the agencies goals are based on his experience as director
This guy isnt an obama crony, he has no reason to come out and shill for obama, he was appointed by bush. Hes a retired Air Force General

I agree with your point. But maintain that they are forgetting to consider Constitutional restraints.

Isn't this the same agency that is trying to suppress the news that a special court that polices them has issued an opinion that they have far exceeded their authority?

Yes it is. Yes this is just another self serving government Nazi whose agency has been caught flouting the law and Constitution.\
