Whoops, sixty percent more Arctic Ice at the beginning of this winter

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...edictions.html

Sometimes, a picture is really worth a thousand words.

The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year. More than 20 yachts that had planned to sail it have been left ice-bound and a cruise ship attempting the route was forced to turn back. Some eminent scientists now believe the world is heading for a period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century – a process that would expose computer forecasts of imminent catastrophic warming as dangerously misleading.
The disclosure comes 11 months after The Mail on Sunday triggered intense political and scientific debate by revealing that global warming has ‘paused’ since the beginning of 1997 – an event that the computer models used by climate experts failed to predict.
In March, this newspaper further revealed that temperatures are about to drop below the level that the models forecast with ‘90 per cent certainty’.
The pause – which has now been accepted as real by every major climate research centre – is important, because the models’ predictions of ever-increasing global temperatures have made many of the world’s economies divert billions of pounds into ‘green’ measures to counter climate change.
Those predictions now appear gravely flawed.

Looks like another big failed idea for liberals in the making.

And, once again, AGW has been proven. Didn't you get the memo, Mainecoons? No matter what happens in nature, it proves AGW.

Except that the average is well below the pre-2010 numbers...

Sea ice continued its late-season summer decline through August at a near-average pace. Ice extent is still well above last year’s level, but below the 1981 to 2010 average. Open water was observed in the ice cover close to the North Pole, while in the Antarctic, sea ice has been at a record high the past few days.

you're also ignoring the hole in the ice... but why present accurate information?

It's getting colder and the ice is coming back. Arctic "summer" half it's usual length. Unlike your phony science.

Here's some really good melting going on:

Nothing deters the faithful, Coons. Jillian, did you actually read that paragraph you posted. That is truly pitiful. Talking about global climate in terms of a cherry-picked 29 year period is ludicrous but to pick "....sea ice has been at a record high the past few days..." is friggin' ludicrous.

So let's see: Arctic ice is clearly rebounding and Antarctic Ice is at record levels. Just last year, the chicken littles were predicting all the arctic ice was going to melt and a bunch of fools showed up with their boats to sail the "northwest passage" and now they are all stuck in the ice hoping the Canadian icebreakers will come and free them.

The models have completely failed to predict the pause in gorebal warming since 1997. Hell, they didn't even predict this year's hurricane season properly.

Back when algore was milking the taxpayer for all it was worth with this nonsense, the Russians predicted a sharp cooling was coming. This year's arctic summer was half the usual length.

I'd say the Ruskies may be on to something here.

And I'd also say that what we have here is some more junk liberal "science" coming unraveled.

Lot of hard, recent information here.

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/peterfer...oling-is-here/

The basic problem is that the chicken littles are trying to sell global warming on the basis of a bunch of unvalidated two dimensional models.

But that reflects as well growing divergence between the reality of real world temperatures and the projections of the climate models at the foundation of the global warming alarmism of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Since those models have never been validated, they are not science at this point, but just made up fantasies. That is why, “In the 12 years to 2011, 11 out of 12 [global temperature]forecasts [of the Met Office] were too high — and… none were colder than [resulted],” as BBC climate correspondent Paul Hudson wrote in January.

    And here's the real kicker:

Human emissions of CO2 are only 4 to 5% of total global emissions, counting natural causes. Much was made of the total atmospheric concentration of CO2 exceeding 400 parts per million. But if you asked the daffy NBC correspondent who hysterically reported on that what portion of the atmosphere 400 parts per million is, she transparently wouldn’t be able to tell you. One percent of the atmosphere would be 10,000 parts per million. The atmospheric concentrations of CO2 deep in the geologic past were much, much greater than today, yet life survived, and we have no record of any of the catastrophes the hysterics have claimed. Maybe that is because the temperature impact of increased concentrations of CO2 declines logarithmically. That means there is a natural limit to how much increased CO2 can effectively warm the planet, which would be well before any of the supposed climate catastrophes the warming hysterics have tried to use to shut down capitalist prosperity.

In the OP article it mentions the billions being poured into green energy and environmental action plans. Regardless of what happens with climate change, these initiatives should continue and I fully support my government trying to continue these measures. We have a lot of land we need to protect from humans and corporations who don't care about the environment. I know that sounds very hippy-esque, but you don't piss on the greatest backyard in the world.
