Health Care is a Mess... But Why?

    Counterintuitive to the single-payer argument.

Lots of truth there . However, our self indulgent inactive , other eating , over drinking, smoking, over drugging life styles need too be factored in. We demand healtcare to not only cure bacteria and viruses , but to fix our lifestyles with a pill instead of change. Of course our addictive food doesn't help.
The limit on new docs is something I didn't know and is clearly pandering to the AMA. It should be challenged in court.

The healthcare promotes that with every advertisement. That's what those long lists of don't take X if you have this, that or the other thing--for which they have other pills.

Lately though, health insurance companies have been doing a better job of pushing healthy life styles.

The plan for at least 20 years is to eventually pay healthcare systems to keep people well instead of fee for service to treat their illnesses. Great idea in theory but hard as hell to enact in reality.

Helps to a point but we are set in our ways and there is much addiction involveed with tobacco, alcohol, other drugs and food ( esp. sugar). All of which makes change very hard and contributes to liver disease, lung cancer, COPD, CAD, MI's , strokes, high cholesterol, obsiety, depression , anxiety, dementia, joint and back problems, Type 2 DM, etc.

The time to change is when you're a kid.

Yes. And other than food you have some control as a kid. For example you can choose not to smoke.

Exercise is important. Not drinking, drugging.
