Who, Reps and Dems? I suspect because they don't look at the world that way. Ever read Flatland? Those that occupy a single dimension cannot even conceive of another.

Because if they were honest about where they rest on that scale, they'd likely never get elected.

The notion of individualism is something even some libertarians get wrong.

Individuals, then, have negative and positive liberties, but liberties exist and are meaningful only in society, liberties are social responsibilities, obligations we hold toward each other.

I think individualism needs to make a come back as is demonstrated by the public's "Aor B" mentality. However , even more important is local community dependence and the freedoms that come with it

Individualism goes hand-in-hand with capitalism...and socialism for that matter. Economic liberalism and the liberal state...and nothing in between. Gone is the community of relationships that used to bind people together.
