Ash Beckham: Coming out of the Closet

Really great speech at Ted about coming out of your closet, whatever it is. I teared up.

I'm a comfy jammies type of girl.

And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father, prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side
    Desolation comes upon the sky..

btw, I challenge all conservatives to watch it and tell me she doesn't make 100% of sense. You'll like it. Trust me.

I tried watching but I didn't make it all the way through. No, sorry, she didn't make 100% sense. I should not, by any stretch of sense, come out of the closet with my feelings about President Obama. It would be a felony. My feelings about my ex-wife would just be very bad taste if i aired them in public and possibly a cause of civil action. Coming out of the closet about my relationship with my dog might expose me to ridicule. Diego is actually one of the best conversationalists I've ever met and gives wonderful input on many of my posts.

I actually spend time trying to push people back in their closet. I was having dinner with a man who started unbuttoning his shirt in the restaurant. "What are you doing?"
"I want to show you the wounds from having precancerous cells cut off."
"We're eating dinner you jackass and I don't want to look at your wounds, anyway."

A neighbor wanted to regale me with tales of his gay conquests, in graphic detail. I told him I didn't want to hear and he said I was a homophobe and if he were heterosexual I would want to hear about his adventures. No, Bruce, I wouldn't.

I really think people should consider why we've had closets and wardrobes and other private place for hundreds of years and ask themselves if it was wise to get rid of them.

Does anyone really think Bill Maher should come out of the closet?

Why can't we have the hard conversations, tho? There is a reason why I get along with @nic34 and not certain other "liberals" on here and that is because I opened my closet to him.

Watched it. Interesting views. I wish all people had similar outlooks of empathy. The most valuable point made I think was to not go looking for conflict, but rather resolution.
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

Yep. And I like how she said that everyone's coming out story is hard and that hard is "just hard", not relative.
