The US unleashed the terrorists on Syria, bomb Syrians, have invaded Syria, can't stand Syria being an independent country, use chemical weapons on Syrians, have cut off medical supplies to Syria, and there is not much doubt that they wouldn't be using germ warfare on Syria too.

    Big News in Syria...

More than 350,000 children vaccinated against polio in hard to reach areas of Syria - UN
Saturday 19th August, 2017 -- A United Nations polio vaccination campaign in Syria has provided protection to more than 355,000 children under age five in two governorates, where violence has made access especially difficult.
In response to a recent outbreak of vaccine-derived polio in the country, the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO) and partners have completed the first round of a vaccination campaign in the Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa governorates. "UNICEF applauds local partners and health workers for their extraordinary efforts and commitment to vaccinate children against this crippling illness," said Fran Equiza, UNICEF Representative in Syria in a statement. "No child should have to live with the devastating effects of polio," she added.

This is the second polio outbreak to hit Syria since the start of the conflict in 2011. The continued violence has devastated its health infrastructure and severely disrupted routine immunization services, particularly in Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa. Prior to the crisis, Syria was polio-free, with an immunization rate over 80 per cent. National vaccination coverage is now just over 40 per cent. "As of 18 August 2017, 33 children under the age of five have been paralyzed," said Elizabeth Hoff, WHO Representative in Syria. "The detection of the circulating vaccine derived polio virus type 2 cases demonstrates that disease surveillance systems are functional in Syria," she continued. "Our priority now is to achieve the highest possible polio immunization coverage to stop the circulation of virus."

To vaccinate every child in need, UNICEF ran an outreach campaign and provided the vaccines and essential cold chain equipment. WHO has trained more than 1,000 field volunteers, transported the vaccines to the conflict-affected area, and funded the implementation of the campaign. UNICEF and WHO said they will continue engaging with local partners and health personnel in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor Governorates to protect all children from polio. Both agencies also call on all parties to the conflict to allow vaccinators full access to children in need.

When the UN did it in Africa they gave recipients AIDS.
Syria should not trust those who hate them to help them.

UN pleads with ignorant Taliban to allow polio vaccinations to go forward...

UN Urges Afghan Warring Sides to Facilitate Crucial Anti-Polio Drive
December 17, 2017 — The United Nations is calling on all parties in the Afghan conflict to facilitate health workers in conducting Monday’s urgent polio vaccination campaign in a volatile southern district with the highest number of polio virus cases of any district in the world.
U.N. Humanitarian Coordinator Toby Lanzer warned Sunday the situation in Shahwalikot district in Kandahar province puts hundreds of thousands of children at risk. He said a polio vaccination campaign throughout the district is more urgent than ever Afghan officials last week reported a new case of wild polio virus, raising the number of cases in Kandahar to five and the nationwide total to 12 in 2017.

Afghan authorities with support from UNICEF and WHO are to vaccinate thousands of children in Shahwalikot starting Monday. “The outbreak of polio in Shahwalikot means that Afghanistan remains one of only three countries in the world that is still polio-endemic and polio eradication is at risk globally,” Lanzer noted. “I call on the authorities and all people with influence, including the leaders of the communities in Shahwalikot, to ensure that this polio vaccination campaign takes place by helping health workers, facilitating their task and protecting them and their supplies so that all children are protected against polio.”

Shahwalikot has been the scene of deadly clashes between Afghan security forces and Taliban insurgents. Southern Afghan provinces, including Kandahar, have been hub of insurgent activities. Lanzer said that International humanitarian law stipulates clear responsibilities for all warring sides to facilitate the anti-polio drive. “Together, with the support of all actors on the ground, we can help Afghans rid themselves once and for all of this terrible disease,” emphasized the U.N. Humanitarian Coordinator.

Afghanistan and Pakistan officially are now the only two nations across the globe to have reported wild polio virus cases so far this year, though the numbers of cases have dipped to historic lows. Pakistani authorities have reported six cases so far in 2017. Nigeria is the third country in the world with ongoing wild polio-virus transmission, but so far this year no new cases have been reported.
