Is it? I haven't had a Brazil nut in ages. Still, that one serving contains more Selenium than upper limit recommended.

Iwasnt aware of that but ive eaten ALOT of brazil nuts during holidays past.

Pistachios are very good for you, im sure not the dyed red ones full of salt. Nuts and legumes have some great health benefits in moderation

It would have to be a pattern for it to have a serious effect. I'm sure overindulging once in a while is harmless.

I had to cut back on legumes. I suspect it led to the gout I had this year and in 2012. I still eat a lot of beans but half what I used to eat.

The gout utterly sucks and its incredibly painful, I take medication to keep me from getting it, my body produces to much uric acid which causes gout.

They tested my blood and my acid levels were normal. I suspect that my outbreaks were linked to diet. But, yeah, it sucks. Miserable experience.

Mr D testing uric acid once is meaningless, next week your uric acid level can go up and create the crystals that enflame your joints. How many times have you had the gout ? and just so you have something to look foward too it gets worse as you age. I didnt get my first gout attack until I was 56
