At NR Online Santorum and Romney are in a dead heat.

    Who is more electable?
    Romney
    Santorum

    Romney 51 %
    Santorum 49 %

I just don't see how Santorum is more electable, but I have definitely underestimated the Midwest and South in past elections. Still, didn't this guy lose his last campaign by 20+ points?

Remember thought that thsi is a poll of conservatives and libertarians for the most part.

Ah, I see. So people are voting from a personal perspective and not necessarily what they think will happen.

I think many more independents would go for Romney. IMO, anyway.

I mean if you are reading the NR and take part in polls there you are ideologically committed.

The Catholics make up a big voting block, plus with Perkins and the Heritage Foundation going with Santorium that brings all those Southern Cons Evangelicals into play. Bet Falwell and those TV Evangalists go with Santorium to. Which is all great for Santorium. But then there is that little hitch with the delegates. Whom some have already decided who their choice was.

Me too. I would also think the Libertarians of NR would be uncomfortable with Santorum's stated goals of government.

Yeah, but it's not like the evangelical bloc. They don;t vote for one party. Of course I think it's a mistake to piss them off.
