We do have choices it's just the companies that build the vehicles and ships build them with only fossil fuel usage in mind, which then keeps the fossil fuel business going, and the cycle continues between the two industries leaving out any realistic hope of transition. There is no incentive for those companies to look elsewhere because they are so invested in the norm that anything else is fantasy to them. What are we going to do when the day comes that freight ships and cargo planes and so on can't keep up with the demand on oil and so on? If it weren't for a lot of those numbskulls and environmentalists that people love to bash on we would probably be in for a rude awakening one day in the future.
