    Why Apologize to Afghanistan?

    Snip

Of course, these facts may not become widely known, because no one is supposed to mention the main significance of what has happened here. First, as usual, Muslims — not al-Qaeda terrorists, but ordinary, mainstream Muslims — are rioting and murdering over the burning (indeed, the inadvertent burning) of a book. Yes, it’s the Koran, but it’s a book all the same — and one that, moderate Muslims never tire of telling us, doesn’t really mean everything it says anyhow.
Muslim leaders and their leftist apologists are also forever lecturing the United States about “proportionality” in our war-fighting. Yet when it comes to Muslim proportionality, Americans are supposed to shrug meekly and accept the “you burn books, we kill people” law of the jungle. Disgustingly, the Times would inure us to this moral equivalence by rationalizing that “Afghans are fiercely protective of their Islamic faith.” Well then, I guess that makes it all right, huh?
Then there’s the second not-to-be-uttered truth: Defiling the Koran becomes an issue for Muslims only when it has been done by non-Muslims. Observe that the unintentional burning would not have occurred if these “fiercely protective of their Islamic faith” Afghans had not defiled the Korans in the first place. They were Muslim prisoners who annotated the “holy” pages with what a U.S. military official described as “extremist inscriptions” in covert messages sent back and forth, just as the jihadists held at Gitmo have been known to do (notwithstanding that Muslim prisoners get their Korans courtesy of the American taxpayers they construe the book to justify killing).

As usual, the left is unusually silent. They run and hide when their idiocy of appeasement of corrupt islamofascists is exposed.

There isn't much to disagree with there. His points are basically irrefutable and he makes a great argument.

I was thinking the same thing. I was inclined to cut the POTUS some slack here but he does make a great argument.

I thought I brought up that fact when I first put up the piece on that. Actually I picked-up on it after hearing Medved go on about it. Not to mention the fact that we provided their Holy book for them.

With a majority population that barely can read and write. Just how many do you think all carry the Koran around with them? How many you think even has the book in their house-holds? Cave-holds? Under that rock they crawl out from under?

Obama said he apologized to protect American soldiers. Killing the enemy protects American soldiers.

Moral Monsters in Afghanistan and Moral Idiots in America
Apologies for the murders in Afghanistan exhibit a bigotry of low expectations. By Dennis Prager

To the best of our knowledge, since September 11, 2001, when 19 Muslims murdered 3,000 Americans, not one American out of a population of more than 300 million has publicly burned a Koran. Nevertheless, some Muslims in Afghanistan (and elsewhere) claimed that this one American and this one act, which was condemned by every prominent American of every religion and every political persuasion, was deemed worthy of retribution. And that retribution was the slaughter of as many non-Muslims as they could find.

Let us remind ourselves about the mindset of those Muslims and of any Muslims who agree with them. To these people, murdering any non-Muslims they can find is a just and an Islamic response to the burning of a Koran.

This is important to note because it gives one a clearer picture of the type of the person the Islamist is. We have here a level of moral primitiveness unknown elsewhere in the human race. There are bad people in every religion, in every country, and in every group. But we do not know of any group, let alone millions of people, who believe that murder is a proper response to an affront to their religion (or to their country or to their ethnic group).

The frequent and large demonstrations in the Muslim world against affronts — real and imagined — to Islam need to be juxtaposed with the utter absence of demonstrations against the now-routine murdering of innocents in the name of Islam.

Instead of focusing on Islamism, the Left focuses on small evils like alleged pay gaps between men and women working at the same job, or on non-evils such as carbon-dioxide emissions. Or they engage in moral equivalence: The Muslim murderers are no worse than Terry Jones.

The other characteristic of the Left embodied in Klein’s statement is what George W. Bush called the “soft bigotry of low expectations.” It is clear that Klein has contempt for Muslims. If Christians had slaughtered innocents because of Piss Christ, it would never have occurred to Klein to write “There should be no confusion about this: Serrano’s act was as murderous as any slaughtering Christian’s.”

With Islamism dominating major parts of the Muslim world, and leftism dominating much of the non-Muslim world, these are not the best of times.....snip!

I would have had my Sec of State apologize. And I would have told my commanding general to warn the Afghan president that our bases will remain secure one way or the other.

If the Taliban is calling on all muslims to kill American soldiers, then it's time to tell the American soldiers to start killing all Afghans. Tell that to the Afghan people and see what happens.
