A slight disagreement. Lizzy was insane. Lacking empathy is often indicative of psychopaths. Lizzy killed her own sister but clearly expected her sister to revive. Further, she empathized with the zombies as "people".

Uncaring
The PCL describes psychopaths as being callous and showing a lack ofempathy, traits which the PPI describes as “coldheartedness.” The criteria for dissocial personality disorder include a “callous unconcern for the feelings of others.” There are now several lines of evidence that point to the biological grounding for the uncaring nature of the psychopath. For us, caring is a largely emotion-driven enterprise. The brains of psycopaths have been found to have weak connections among the components of the brain’s emotional systems. These disconnects are responsible for the psychopath’s inability to feel emotions deeply. Psychopaths are also not good at detecting fear in the faces of other people (Blair et al., 2004). The emotion of disgust also plays an important role on our ethical sense. We find certain types of unethical actions disgusting, and this work to keep us from engaging in them and makes us express disapproval of them. But psychopaths have extremely high thresholds for disgust, as measured by their reactions when shown disgusting photos of mutilated faces and when exposed to foul odors.

Normally, I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic themes.
I was staying at a place for a couple weeks that had Netflix, and I gave the Walking Dead a try. I watched the first 3 episodes of season 1. For some reason, I found it uncompelling. I just didn't care about any of the characters. It seemed like the main dramatic device was the splattering of guts, and the show was very light on character development.
I'm not too snobby that I don't enjoy many cheesy television dramas. I got hooked on Lost, despite the glossy centerfold model actors. I loved the Wire, which was very gritty. Overall, I thought that Breaking Bad was great. I really enjoyed Entourage for a while, despite its lowbrow childish themes.
I tried to like Dexter after many people recommended it. I really tried, and I tried to like the Walking Dead. I really just couldn't get there.
The Walking Dead is the only series I have gotten into since The Shield.

The Wire was good. The Shield was a different level.

I end up watching the replay around midnight. I don't like having to sit through commercials, so I record it and then watch it later in the evening so I can skip the commercials.
