Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

I don't understand. It clearly states the Pope does not support gay marriage or civil unions yet somehow Ravi believes the Pope believes homosexuality is fine and dandy.
To me, what the Pope is preaching is its not up to us to judge anyone. I agree with that position but that does not mean I can't find some behavior to be wrong. To judge does not mean to find fault but to exact punishment

I'll still go to church, but from now on I'm going to ignore this Pope's crazy statements to the media.
Pope Francis reaffirmed the Catholic Church's opposition to gay marriage on Wednesday, but suggested in a newspaper interview that it could support some types of civil unions. The Pope reiterated the church's longstanding teaching that "marriage is between a man and a woman." However, he said, "We have to look at different cases and evaluate them in their variety."
States, for instance, justify civil unions as a way to provide economic security to cohabitating couples, the Pope said in a wide-ranging interview published Wednesday in Corriere della Sera, an Italian daily. State-sanctioned unions are thus driven by the need to ensure rights like access to health care, Francis added.
A number of Catholic bishops have supported civil unions for same-sex couples, including Pope Francis when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires in 2010, according to reports in National Catholic Reporter and The New York Times.

So yeah, he appears to support same sex civil unions. Delicious.
So yeah, once again you are trying to cover one of your leaps of personal bias:
Before drawing a straight line between then-Cardinal Bergoglio's position and its impact on Vatican policy, two cautions are in order.First, popes often distinguish between their previous positions and their new responsibilities.
Then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, for instance, once took a strong position against Turkey's admission to the European Union on the basis it might compromise the Christian identity of Europe. As pope, however, he upheld the official Vatican line, which is neutrality on Turkey's candidacy as long as certain human rights standards are met, especially religious freedom.
The pope has been a staunch opponent of gay marriage but open to legal arrangements to protect the rights of same-sex couples on matters such as health benefits and inheritance.
From your National Catholic Reporter citation.
As for the NYT, they are very good at doing the same thing you do regularly, putting words into people's mouths.
Aside from the fact that this pope only advocated some legal protections, which you and the other lefties are trying to spin into support for civil unions, he did so in order to try and head off gay marriage legalization in Argentina.
Dear, I know that your capacity for critical thinking is pretty light but do try and understand that advocating for some legal protections is really not the same thing as advocating for civil unions, which this Pope has never done and will never do.

I should thank you for putting up some citations which really serve to illustrate how liberal journalists read their own biases into news and thereby spin some legal protections into civil unions.

Ignore as you will.State-sanctioned unions are thus driven by the need to ensure rights like access to health care, Francis added.
