    Francis added = Francis endorsed?

    Right.

Ravi just doesn't know when to give up. Ravi, it would behoove you to actually understand the RCC positions before marveling at Pope Francis.

As for the NYT, they are very good at doing the same thing you do regularly, putting words into people's mouths.

Aside from the fact that this pope only advocated some legal protections, which you and the other lefties are trying to spin into support for civil unions, he did so in order to try and head off gay marriage legalization in Argentina.

Dear, I know that your capacity for critical thinking is pretty light but do try and understand that advocating for some legal protections is really not the same thing as advocating for civil unions, which this Pope has never done and will never do.

Excellent point that will of course be lost on the headline nation.

I think we are demonstrating that it is the latter in this thread.

Remember, almost all of the so called "mainstream" media is leftist and thus hardly mainstream. Like Ravi, they spin words into something the dictionary would never recognize in order to try and validate their positions, not report on what the person quoted actually believes.

Pope Francis didn't and isn't "sanctioning, endorsing, or advocating" civil unions. He made a very limited proposal in Argentina before he was Pope which is consistent with his views on fairness and protection of humanity, including "gays." (God, I detest that word, I know too many of them that are anything but and would love to have normal sexual drives.)

Hell, I'm to the left of the Pope because I have no problem with civil unions or other legal protections for committed couples of any sort. As a libertarian (recovering Republican) the state's role in people's private lives should be limited to the greatest possible extent.

And that includes use of the state or government schools to advocate life styles. It's none of your damn business you government $#@!s.
