No, you don't need a veto-proof majority. If Americans are willing to give you both houses of Congress, and y'all don't $#@! it up, the President would have to work with your team to pass legislation or nose dive in the approval ratings.

This President would not work with anyone. Don't be naive. That's simply not his style, haven't you noticed? Although he's basically repealed most of it on his own, what do you think he would do if they passed ObombedItCare repeal and sent it to him?

Unfortunately, unless you get rid of a bunch of the old school Republicans at the same time, they'd probably just come back and start passing moral majority legislation and throwing more money at the military industrial complex. You are not going to get the kind of real change that is needed, namely a serious reduction in the interference of the Federal government in American life, from either of these two political parties.

The next two elections are going to be all about rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I think you're forgetting one important thing about the character of Barack Obama: he's a narcissist obsessed with legacy. If his legacy turns into "refused to make bipartisan deals" after America chose to have Republicans lead Congress, his legacy will become even more of a joke than it already is.

That's beside the point, though. I wasn't talking about Obama, I was speaking of some generic President.

I'm not forgetting anything about him. I've been the one pointing out how bad his NPD really is. And because of it, he is unable to back down even though his own actions show his "signature accomplishment" to be a very big f-up. He'll just demagogue endlessly from his teleprompter and go on vacation.

But my main point remains and my proof is what happened with the last Republican majority Congress.

When was that? I don't remember both houses of Congress held by Republicans post-Bush, and I can't imagine Bush not playing well with his own party.
