    the pharmaceutical industry

What is your opinion on big pharma? I think the psychiatrists are on their payroll. I think ADHD and ADD are over diagnosed. There is even a disorder called oppositional defiance disorder. I think they came up with ODD so that parents can not take any responsibility in disciplining their kids. What do you think will become of the next generation?

I agree. While there are people who do benefit from certain medication, the industry is focused on numbers. Recent news; satin drugs have been opened to a larger group of people. And those are drugs you take for life, for most part. A bonanza for Big Pharma.

Almost half of Americans ages 40 to 75 and nearly all men over 60 qualify to consider cholesterol-lowering statin drugs under new heart disease prevention guidelines, an analysis concludes.

It's the first independent look at the impact of the guidelines issued in November and shows how dramatically they shift more people toward treatment. Supporters say they reveal the true scope of heart risks in America. Critics have said the guidelines overreach by suggesting medications such as Zocor and Lipitor for such a broad swath of the population.

What can we as citizens do about this? Isn't a company having a group of people hooked on drugs comparable to slavery?

I don't think that you get hooked on Satins..., you just buy the product for as long as you take it- and the idea is for life. And a significant number of those people have bad side effects.

What can you do? Don't take the drugs. But be careful. I am not against all drugs. Some people need them.

You are just a kid, you shouldn't need anything.

H.S. and college students call Adderall the homework drug.

Besides their usage as a performance enhancer or simply to maintain normalcy, pharmaceuticals are the new party drug for young people. The problem is that they're expensive. Consequently, heroin is becoming prevalent in the suburbs. It's much cheaper and more powerful.

What can you do about this problem. I have the answer. Grow weed, organically. Get some clones and weave them into your veggie garden. Smoke it out of a water pipe if you're concerned about your lungs. Chase it down with a craft beer (homebrew, even better).

Oh, and don't forget to eat some of those veggies from the garden too. They're not simply there to camoflage your ganja.

Finally, get this idea out of your head that a doctor is some kind of miracle worker. He's just that idiot that sat next to you in grade school (except he actually studied hard for his tests and had the $ to go to med school). Your body is equipped with everything it needs to heal itself.

Psychiatry is a pseudoscience and failed enterprise! Psychiatrists as well as academics do not have skills for real jobs!

Science is the same way these days, it's more like a pseudoscience. You can find a "study" that will confirm anything you want it to.

I think they're all in it together: the "scientists," the big pharma people, the global warming nuts, and the government elitists, all in bed together to get more money from We The People.

Seriously why do people want to pursue these careers? There careers are so boring! Do you think people who become psychiatrists and academics are commie losers?
