I've been there. Memphis is a big city, but in a country way.

I liked Knoxville. Had a bad alternator driving east on I40 so I stopped in Knoxville to find a parts store. No one was open, as it was Sunday morning. I found an old gas station and garage that was open. The owner said he was only open for gas, but that he'd look at my truck anayway. We started talking trucks, and he wound up removing and replacing it FOR me! One of the nicest ol' guy's I ever met. I made sure I paid him a little extra for the help even when he refused to charge me for labor....

Tennesseans are just all around nice people, some of the nicest in the nation in my experiences. The friendliness and hospitality is one of the things that drew me here. You could meet someone for the first time, and they'll treat you like you are their best friend.

Texas is the weak little kid that puffs himself up to make himself look bigger and stronger than he actually is. It's a defense mechanism. Our governor does not have to go begging businesses from other states to relocate to Tennessee.

I fthat was the case, why didn't Toyota move their home office to Tennessee?

There is a downside to all the economic growth though.

I don't think that I have been in Tennessee since the mid 1990s.... I was stationed at Ft. Campbell as my first duty station in 1988.

Toyota? Really? Toyota is not that big of a thing anymore. The rising businesses - Amazon, Coca-Cola, and Volkswagen - are all here already, and in my city no less!
