I've been going to "body pump" classes at my local gym for over 10 years. It's mostly toning but it also helps me keep the weight down.
Classes are great because they are much cheaper than a regular trainer, it motivates me to do more than I'd do on my own and the commitment to be there at a certain time also motivates me to git'r'done.
Another factor is I don't have to think, make critical life-or-death decisions or do anything else except relax and just follow the female instructor. It's very relaxing. Almost meditative.
