]I worked at a chemical plant (pharmaceuticals) in Boulder Colorado that was near a Celestial Seasonings (Sleepy Time Tea) and some specialty coffee facility. The odors from those two places could be very pungent. People couldn't believe those places could smell that bad so they blamed us. Quite a few times I saw Boulderites drive up in their Mercedes and other gas guzzler cars and pull out their protest signs and march up and down in front of our plant site. They did that off and on over the years til we developed a couple powerful AIDs drugs. After that I guess they thought we were cool.
Back then in Colorado they couldn't go after food processing facilities for odor emissions. If you ran a turkey processing plant you couldn't be bothered if you stank the area up so bad that people would get nauseous.
Maxwell House coffee has a roasting facility in Jacksonville Fl. A pop of the stuff smells wonderful, a vat is enough to make a skunk cry uncle.
