    We Are Dead Stars

    We Are Dead Stars

"Every atom in our bodies was processed in the body of an ancient star, says NASA astronomer Dr. Michelle Thaller. Thaller explains how the iron in our blood connects us to one of the most violent acts in the universe—a supernova explosion—and what the universe might look like when the stars die out."

It's all part of the "great formula", my term but maybe others have preceding terms.

Go back to the big bang and keep the chaos theory in mind, if science is truly mathematical then in theory you could basically predict course of physical events from simple chemical reactions to time/space continuum stuff.

Everything all the way down to predicting my replying to this message this way, all a product of the great physical formula if your calculations - as vast and great as they might theoretically be were accurate and in this theory they can be calculated. In theory.
    my junk is ugly

That's right. If the early super massive stars hadn't lived fast and died hard we wouldn't be here. Its amazing how fast new knowledge is pouring in. Its almost overwhelming and its just the start of the avalanche. A few years ago astronomers who theorized about black holes were considered by their peers as kooks. Then we knew they do in fact exist and we can actually "see" them. Its also becoming apparent that they make the galaxies work the way they do. These are exciting times we live in.

Its also amazing that with technological advances all this knowledge is readily available to "every man." Its right at the tip of our fingers.

I like the part about how we're looking at those dead stars, that star stuff, in the past.

I was reading the other day about how our technological advances have us out of sync with our biological evolution. Just one example was how we evolved sense of taste to seek out salts and sugars and such because they weren't readily available back then, but technology has made them available in overabundance today. Again we're looking back at our past selves dealing with this.

I find it interesting that the weakest force, gravity, is responsible for the tremendous pressure required to fuse atoms.
My beliefs are a distillation of what I was taught as a child and what I observe as an adult.

Vast distances are hard to comprehend. To see something like its right in front of you in the here and now but what we see is how it was before our solar system even existed. Its mind boggling. So is trying to comprehend large objects (to us) like stars that are millions of times larger than ours. I'm not sure we can really comprehend the size of our own star, something that is so far away its light takes 8 minutes to get here but you can feel the heat of it.

Einstein said it best when he said "He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed."

If you haven't seen The last episode of the season Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, "The Immortals" I recommend that you do.
