'Resignation,' ex-Cover Oregon director Bruce Goldberg $14,425 gets monthly salary

Long after announced 'resignation,' ex-Cover Oregon director Bruce Goldberg draws $14,425 monthly salary

Bruce Goldberg, the respected, long-time director of the Oregon Health Authority, offered to resign on March 18. Two days later, with the Cover Oregon tech mess going from bad to worse, Gov. John Kitzhaber announced that he'd shown Goldberg the door.

The resignation was "effective immediately," said officials in the governor's office.

    Or so we thought.

It turns out, Goldberg never really left and is now drawing a full-time salary from the state. Oregon officials confirm Goldberg returned to full-time status at the Oregon Health Authority on May 15 and will use his accrued vacation pay until July 18.

    He's getting paid $14,425 a month.

$14K a month for royally screwing up? Nice work if you can get it. Columnist Dave Barry said it succinct.........

"The Democrats seem to be basically nicer people, but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the management skills of celery. They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the economy." - Dave Barry

I can only wonder what kind of retirement this guy's going to make? If it was private industry, he'd have been summarily fired and had to take a half salary just to find work being branded as a managerial failure. The Government is the only institution where a person can screw up that bad with little to no consequences. At least this is at the state level and can be dealt with in the State's ballot box.
We must have the clarity of vision to see the difference between what is essential and what is merely desirable, and then the courage to bring our government back under control and make it acceptable to the people. - Ronald Reagan, 1980 Nomination Acceptance Speech

Like this never happens on Wall Street.

    It's not a Dem/Rep issue, it's not a private/public issue, it's a purely class issue.

Since when does Wall St get direct funding from Taxes? Oregon's Government is pure Democrat. That's why it IS a Dem/Rep issue. Name a red state with a failing state run exchange.
