Movie star Gwyneth Paltrow is catching a lot of flak for comparing negative Twitter comments to fighting in a war.

It took every ounce of willpower to not respond to my brother posting this on FB this morning. This Green Beret goes off on Paltrow for her comparing tweeting to war. That is what we call a simile my friends. Just because you compare something to war doesn't mean it is war. We have become so engrossed in what people say and how they say it that people can't make a simple statement without flak.

Also, this reminds me of the Islamic Jihad. The internal war. For me, my biggest battles are internal ones. We have a saying in my faith.
“some of the greatest battles will be fought within the silent chambers of your own soul.”

I really do believe this because I have lived it. And perhaps for Paltrow her greatest battles are when people say negative things about her. You have to hand it to Mr. Green Beret though, he has passion. You can't compare battles. Everyone's battles are different and most of us will never have to go to "war."

You don't make your money off of the whims of the public. If you did and you wanted to continue to do so you'd act more like Chris Evans or Angelina Jolie.

This is what I love about the Hollywood left. Running the risk of death is the same as someone saying you are a dumb $#@! to them. They all live in a fantasy world.

I guess to them being held in a Nazi concentration camp is no different than not getting a plum part in the latest vampire movie.

I have to be honest though, here is what gets me when servicemen talk about what a hardship it is being deployed and being away from their families. It is hard. I know that. Half of these people are cheating on their wives and their wives are cheating on them while separated. A lot of these marriages dissolve into divorce as a result. My SIL whined like a baby the whole time her husband was in Korea. She even got to go spend 2 weeks with him and he got to come home for 2 weeks. My sister had a baby and 2 surgery's without her husband while he was in Afghanistan and never complained about a thing. The month before he got home she said, "man taking care of 3 kids by myself is getting old." The only complaint I EVER heard her make through it all. My brother has never, ever deployed in 8 years of service and the month before he goes him and the wife are at each other for every little thing. While my husband was in Iraq everyone would say how hard that must be and how could I possibly do it? You do it because you have to. You make the most of it because you don't want to be miserable. It is all in our attitude. We choose.
