Friend was listening to stuff on Pandora last night and this song came on. Never heard of Summoning before, but we both were way impressed. Epic black metal.

2.5+ million views. Probably the least-obscure video I've listened to in a long time. But this album is fantastic.

The new Godflesh album totally bangs. I figured it would be more trash like from Hymns so I've been bypassing it, but it turns out they practically went all the way back to their Streetcleaner days. Which is amazing. Stomp stomp.

    Brutal.

Gave this album a chance back in high school, Maniac's clean gameshow host yelling style on a few tracks turned me off of it. But I've been listening to more Mayhem now and after realizing how much Maniac's vocals helped on the Deathcrush EP I decided to give this one a second listen and WOW what an amazing and experimental album this is. Possibly Mayhem's best after De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, and I know now I definitely prefer Maniac to Attila (Void).

One of two songs on their new CD worth listening to. Semi-heavy. But I must give credit where credit is due. Even missing a key member they still are capable of a good track here and there, but it's clear they've lost direction. There is no brutality here. But it's Metal. The chorus especially.

This one however, is a bit more interesting. There is no chorus to be found and the whole song is pretty decent. I am happy to see them take a more linear approach for a change. Choruses always were the cheesiest part of Metal, if they exist at all:

With some obvious exceptions, here the chorus is easily the most enjoyable part of the track, besides that wailing intro. Cannibal Corpse always was a somewhat more orthodox brand of music, even if brutality would turn most people off. Underneath the heavy riffing and cookie-monster vocals is something one can quite sing along to. And I can honestly say, even as a big fan of Black Sabbath, CC absolutely kills the original:

This is a "soft-response" to the topic about that drummer from that Southern Rock band I can't spell correctly dying. The best drumming is now programmed. Listen to those blastbeats just in the intro:

And drummers don't even get laid much.

Little Johnny: Mommy, when I grow up I want to be a drummer!
Mommy: Now Johnny, you can't do both.

Marrow is the perfect closer for this album.

Anneka's voice sounds so amazingly beautiful on Epicloud.

Where have the good times gone?
