I think, might not remember well, that the parachutes then used were the T-34
Those still the same ones?
Seems by now they would use the sport chutes since they seem easier to guide????

Fortunately for the AB, there are just so many steeples. Peter says he hits trees. I was thinking of broken legs. Sure of course trees too. Fences also. I recall at Ft. Benning after the first jump, some guys had broken legs. Normally when a guy drops out of A/B, they get sent someplace else immediately. I was forced to stay at Ft. Benning longer because some dude figured out how to bust into foot lockers and get away with it. I found out how and let the Authority know and they made me stay at Ft. Benning until October of 62. I think I got to Ft. Benning about July sometime.

I was to stay there to be a witness but the guy finally pled and I then got orders to Ft. Dix where I then was flown to Frankfurt, Germany to be assigned to the 3rd ID

funny you mentioned the 101st & Ft. Campbell...I was going though old family stuff this week & found a copy of the Star & Stripes from the late 50's....my brother's lines tangled in the tail section of the plane & he was cut loose by the jump sgt....I can remember the reporters coming to our house asking my mother about it (she hadn't heard from my brother yet..she was kinda upset). I've Got a Secret wanted him on their show but the Army wouldn't let him go...cold war...commie secrets, etc....I think he was the first to survive such an accident...but won't swear to it. It was while Westmoreland was still the CO at Campbell...
I worked out today
rowing machine and weights.
I have to give up running and go back to walking.
