On another board where I'm a moderator I get around the problem of participating in threads by having a member only handle. And I do not moderate threads I'm participating in at any level of significance.

All the mods on that board do the same and it seems to work pretty well.

I don't understand why it needs to be "fair" or "perfect". I've been threadbanned a half a dozen times by now and I look at me, all my limbs are still there, I have no red marks, and my bank account still has money in it.

Nothing at all happens if you are thread banned. So they make a mistake every once in a while, so? So they blow up every once in a while? Why is it such drama if this happens?

Like people wanting to hold mock "trials" for offenders or jump through hoops to figure out how to make the system fair...it just feels like an incredible amount of effort for nonpaid people to go through to make people who don't pay to use this place happy.

So I get threadbanned...ok. Threadbans happen. They happen so all parties get a chance to cool down.

Your idea of knowing something is agreeing with Ransom the neocon. I've noticed the more isolated you get here in your love of war mongering the more unpleasant and personal you've gotten, of which this post is a very good example.

Get over yourself. You aren't the world police expert you think you are. You're just another old fart like McCain who wants to send young people off to get killed in useless foreign adventures that the U.S. has generally lost since WWII. You might want to notice you're not being taken very seriously at all these days, to the point of rivaling Cigar and Exo.

Well, I was trying to avoid making a big deal about it, but that's obviously not happening now.

I stepped down by choice. The job was getting too stressful, to the point where even the wife was noticing. So, I'm taking a break.

Threadbanning iis the least of my worries. I am going to say this just one last time. Maybe someone will hear what I'm saying and not pop up and say I am whining. Cause I am not. I think it is ridiculous for the people enforcing the rules (paid or not) to turn around and break the rules. I don't expect them to be held to a higher standing at all, I expect them to be held to the same standard of behavior that they expect from us. Now. Is that reasonable or not?
