The fact that Republicans supported Civil Rights for the Uncivilized should make a conscious person realize that it was all a scam to break up the solidarity of unions. It also was intended to demoralize the majority and make them resigned to having no controlling power. By the way, the first right the Blacks got was to die in Vietnam combat taking a rich kid's place.
