He wasn't really a socialist, either. William L. Shirer, in his book "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich," makes the point that there was little to no resemblance of socialism in Hitler's Nazi regime.

His quotes would say otherwise, his actions on the other hand would agree with your statement.

Hitler talked "Christian" for the same reason he talked "socialist." Christianity was a big deal in Europe and socialism was a big deal in Germany. It was politics, same as all modern American politicians claiming Christianity when they are really atheists. Christians are still 75% of the population and religion is (sadly) a defining qualification for public office.

Because of underfunding and incompetence in Supply, there was a shortage of combat uniforms (utilities) in Vietnam. When the only uniform I had left became useless from wear and tear, the supply clerks had to open a dead Marine's seabag and give me one of his uniforms to wear.

No, no, this is not a smack at progressives. Progressives have good intentions of creating a Great Society. It just never works, is all.
And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father, prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on the mountain side
    Desolation comes upon the sky..

And again: Jesus also wanted to create a perfect society, so Jesus was a Nazi. That's why the JEWS crucified Him!

That I'd agree with. Just as Marx distorted socialism with classes, Hitler distorted it with nationalism, even racism. And both with central planning, as Hayek spends so much time elucidating.

I often compare Hitler's political use of Christianity with Al Qaeda's and Taliban's hijacking of Islam.

I think if you read him in context you'll catch how he distorts Christianity.

Of course. I'm speaking of his speeches were he would lie and say things like "ours is a Christian cause". He was only pandering to his audience.
