The ordering of show business stars for parties becomes more popular in Kazakhstan and it is difficult to imagine the holding of such parties without them. Having the artist at the parties is fashionable and prestigious. The budget of the most expensive party may exceed $1 million US. The middle class party, where you can invite your friends, costs about $300 000 US.
Rustam Madumarov, the Uzbek singer, known as the soloist of “DADO” group, took part at the party, organized in Almaty in early April for the party-and-oligarchic “Big men” where Nursultan Nazarbaev tool part. It came out from the direct participant of this party. On its own account the fact of attendance of Uzbek singer in Kazakh party is not so interesting. Various Uzbek artists consider it an honour to be invited for the Kazakh banquets, weddings and parties. Money is the point. Kazakh oligarchs are famous worldwide with their generosity. The only nuance is that the participants of the party have discussed the fact of Rustam Madumarov’s belonging to the family of Islam Karimov.
Everybody knows about strained relations between Uzbek and Kazakh leaders. Islam Karimov has jealous attitude to any political and economic progress achieved by Nursultan Nazarbaev. Such negative attitude effects Uzbek-Kazakh relations in all spheres, from trade to cultural relations. Islam Karimov even does not allow Uzbek performers to go to Kazakhstan. In this case, Kazakhs and Nazarbaev, who also took part in the closed party, are not interested in Rustam Madumarov as a singer. He had retired from the scene long ago. They are interested in the fact that he is considered as a member of Karimov’s family. It is exotic for Kazakhs as an allegory to have an unappeasable rival to serve them. In this case it is Karimov’s relative and through him Karimov himself, because the money, that Rustam Madumarov takes, will eke out the family budget. In addition, it is pleasant being drunk to shout out: - “Hey, Karimov’s son-in-law, sing “Murka” for us”.
Madumarov was born in Tashkent; his parents are the Bokharan Tajiks. It is known that earlier he was a singer in “Anor” group. Then in 1999 he organized “DADO” group with his brothers, which was quite popular among unspoiled Uzbek youth for some time. In early 2000 he acquainted with Gulnara Karimova and became her favourite. Madumarov succeed in his activity after that. He established “PanTerra”, sound-recording studio and took over the control of “Terra-Group” activity, which specialized in organizing Uzbek and foreign singers’ concerts, holding cultural-mass events.
Besides, Madumarov went into business under the influence of Gulnara Karimova, but now he is at disrepute among the businessmen. He owes large amounts of money for his partners and he is not in a hurry to pay back. He owns beer pubs and a restaurant, own an interest in the company “GeoMax”.
It is known that Rustam Madumarov had quarreled with Gulnara Karimova several years ago and fell into disgrace. The retail network of “Nirvana” shops dealing with DVD selling, owned by his brother was looted by fiscal agencies in one day and the criminal case was laid. Madumarov had to take to flight to Moscow and hide there. From that moment he began to take hard drug.
After a while Rustam Madumarov reconciled with Gulnara Karimova and his business got going again. The control over the market was returned to the retail network of “Nirvana”. The close people of this pair consider that Madumarov will soon become Karimov’s son-in-law officially. In spite of the fact that Rustam Madumarov is a Bokharan Tajik by origin, who perceived as “lyoli” (gypsy) in Uzbekistan, nevertheless by nature he is native.
Rustam Madumarov does not pull the stars down from the sky; nevertheless he flatters himself that in future he would grow out of the artists who are ordered for cheap and become a man of gravitas. Islam Karimov’s son-in-law can start with a position of the Minister of culture and sport of Uzbekistan. Then his job rates for singing in Kazakh parties will definitely become higher.
