Mowing the grass in Gaza- this is what the Israelis call their every few years war with Hamas.

It seems appropriate.

Americans think of wars as decisive battles between the forces of good and evil. One side loses and one side wins and it’s over. Hopefully the good guys are the ones left standing. The bad guys may even turn into good guys, as happened after World War II.

Even if Israel were to somehow eliminate Hamas, another terrorist group would likely take the lead and continue on Hamas’ path. Defeating a group militarily unfortunately does not mean defeating the hatred and bigotry motivating that group.

Peter I have read that with each successive attack, Hamas grows a little stronger. This conflict is going to take awhile because Israel won't stop until all those tunnels Hamas built have been found and destroyed.

There will always be conflict in that region no matter what is done or not done.

In all war its more like lesser of two evils than good vs. evil. And part of the reason these two don't have it out is that we interfere , ironically billing ourselves as "peacekeepers"
