A Question To Those Keeping Themselves Invisible

    Why?

A couple of people have told me they do it to mess with certain other members...but they also say they want to see this forum grow. Besides screwing with people, is there another reason?

This is of course just one man's opinion, but I don't imagine it does much for new signups when it appears there are only two or three members signed into the forum.

If anyone feels like explaining to this simpleton the benefits of staying invisible, I'd be much obliged.

It's a personal preference. If it bugs someone, it's probably because that someone is no longer privy to every move and thread that the invisible person is making and reading, as well as who they're pm'ing. Being invisible has nothing to do with the forum's growth, which is measured by membership numbers and the amount of POSTS made and hit.

If this is a problem, you can ask ADMIN to disable that option.

The people who are playing you that you don't think are playing you are doing it because that is what they do.

CL, Its more than likely a head game used by trolls to prevent others from watching what they are doing. But you are right CL those that stop and look within seeing hardly any members Does affect a site. Simple question if you see only 3 members and no activity going one is less apt to stop in as opposed to seeing members and activity taking place. Common sense.

Moreover most trolls dont understand they can be viewed By Mods and Admins anytime. Some places have Bartenders and Librarians that can see what where when and why to.

Course what would you think about a bunch of people who say they want the place to grow but hide themselves.

The only (Pro) I see with ghosting is that regular members can't see who the Mods or Admins are PMing.

How do you know that it does? The real number of members online is still reflected, even if everyone is invisible. As well, the 'new posts' sidebar show excerpts of all of the activity except for the hidden WWTA forum.

I find it amazing that so many conclusions are drawn by being invisible I had no idea it was such a provocative thing to do...call me shocked by the revelation. What difference does it make really or is it imagined to be something it isn't. The fact that it's an option like the ignore button speaks to me...why would there be such an option if using it made you suspect?

How do I know it does.....Cuz I have been in the mix of running sites with owners. How do I know really know. All one has to do is look at sites with membership that is showing. Activity thru the front window for those guests looking in is prevalent. Also I have dealt with Flocks of nothing but trolls and know the head-games they play. As with all complaints to an Admin or Mod. Being used while they did not understand the Sites Time log.

Not with V-Bulletin......as if the Member is ghosting they will not show up listed as a member. They may show up listing as a number on the site. As in there are 5 members and only 4 showing. Moreover Admin already explained about those waiting for approval to the site that do not show listed as a member.

Dada and her pals are having another sudden case of "Who, What, Where, When" syndrome. More drama from the posters who want the forum to grow. LOL.
