History does not long Entrust the care of Freedom, to the Weak or Timid!!!!! Dwight D. Eisenhower ~
Yeah and didnt Cone pitch for the Mets too before he became a Yankee Doodle Dandy? I can't stand the Yankees now. Maybe back in the day. To me they just try to buy their way into the playoffs. Plus why should they be allowed to have the largest Cap for all of baseball.
The Whie Sox has the Yankees number.....but they can never get there to take them on. Chicago Sports teams don't ever pay out the money Like the East and West Coast teams do.

The truth is that most large-market teams throw big-bucks contracts at ball players. The Yankees are called out for it because they seem to get more results for their money.
The Marlins have broken a long-standing rule about large contracts and gave Jose Reyes a huge contract. The Tigers paid a fortune for Prince Feilder. The Mets would, but they have money troubles, and their owners are idiots. Now that the Cubs have Theo Epstein as GM, look for them to start throwing around large numbers as well. (let's hope he's learned his lesson with Carl Crawford)
Crawford may still turn out, don't you think?
The Cubs have been overpaying for years, and up until recently I always thought the Marlins did decently with such a small payroll in a tough division.
I like Crawford's talent - not sure if Boston is right for him.
What the Marlins are doing makes sense: They have a brand-new Billion-dollar ballpark, the Phillies and Braves are aging, and the Mets aren't going anywhere - they are positioning themselves to make a run for the division, and hopefully fill those seats in South Beach. Reyes is not the cornerstone to build a team on, however. He has an attitude problem, and gets injurred easily.
I agree about Reyes...more flash than substance. Not a cornerstone at all. I can't believe a guy like Fielder gets that amount of money when one look at him speaks volumes about his discipline. How can a professional athlete let himself go to hell like that? That's baseball I guess.
Yeah, his joints sure aren't going to hold up. I think both could have been better if they weren't as weighed down, and the falling out between the two is downright sad.
