I know defense spending isn't popular these days.. but if your gonna spend building one of these is a good place to do it... no politics on this, just the joy of seeing awesome toys . currently it's on scheduel for completion around 2014-15 I think.

This badboy?

The lead ship will be named Zumwalt for Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, and carries the hull number DDG-1000. Originally 32 ships were planned, but this was progressively cut down[11] to three. The Navy expects each ship to cost nearly $3.8 billion. Including research and development, the cost grows to $7 billion apiece.
As someone that served on an old US warship before, i just hope that this badass's living courter is half as modern as it's weapons system
Toilets made for average size adults (and really, i'm pretty sure the average US sailor is bigger than me) instead of children would be nice too... as would a shower that doesn't make 20-30 adult male rubbing each other naked ....
of course, some sort of advanced anti-$#@!roach / rat techonlogy would be appriciated too as would a better food storage compartment (though I guess with fewer men need to run the ship most of these problems would automatically become much easier to tackle)

How come I never see those things mentioned in the ads on tv for Navy recruiting?
