What will you do when they close your post office?

$40 billion a year in subsidies for big oil, who makes $100 billion a year in profits. But the republican congress can't come up with one billion for the postal service.

I've already had to terminate my time sensitive "The Week Magazine" because I was getting it two or three weeks late. And we have to go to the bank to pay our mortgage to make sure it gets paid on time. We constantly get mail that is a month late. The wife pays bills on line to make sure our credit isn't ruined. If the internet goes down from the loss of a satellite from a sun flare or power failure, this country is going to have a financial train wreck.

Business advertising through the mail is finished. Magazine companies and newspapers will be filing for bankruptcy. How many tax returns aren't getting delivered this year? Social Security checks? Well, UPS is the way to send Christmas packages from now on.

Don't ya just love republicans smaller government?

Overspending by the USPS is causing the shutdown of post offices - not Republicans.

Think about it. More people email, pay bills electronically - which means less revenue for the USPS. Being a quasi-governmental agency, did they do the smart thing and cut costs, reduce staff? Nope. They kept spending. So, less revenue and increased spending means what? DEFICIT.

Now they have to cut back.

But hey - if you need to blame somebody BESIDES the real culprits, knock yourself out.

Yes, my understanding is they have to cover all pensions from military personnel. There are a lot of vets who work for the USPS so the post office assumes the burden of paying the military pension as well as the one for the post office. They also have to project for future hires who haven't even been employed yet.

add that to diminishing use, and letters delivered for less then a $1. It's amazing they even exist. I write letters to a few out of state frinds, actual letters ( i think there is nothing nicer then getting a letter in the mail from a friend).

But business is using BULK rates -that has to stop, it's puzzling -wish i had a better answer.

Destroying the USPS helps destroy the economy, but you'd rather give $40 billion to big oil which is also destroying the economy. GOP logic.

Republicans won't be happy until we have to pay tolls to use our roads, pay tuitions for grade school and cram schools...they figure everyone is on their own except business...we all have to coddle business to make sure they can squeeze every penny from us. $#@! the people of this country it's all about what their owners want...and that's money and power.

What will I do...I'll miss my post office very much if they take it away. Very much.

Also you have much more privacy by writing letters rather than relying on email.

Evil Republicans. Let's just keep printing money instead!

Oh wait: All can be saved including a Post Office that has failed to change with its business and overpays its help if we only soak the rich.

Let's pass that Buffett tax--$5 billion a year towards 1.2 trillion in ObamaDeficits.

BTW, why is it that those liberal states on the east coast seem to have so many toll roads despite their sky high taxes?

    Liberals, you can't fix stupid.
