I would say that a lot of consumption creates innovation which breaks current limits. That is why Malthus was incorrect. And reliably so. And we will do it again!

I think we've previously established our differences on this point, respectfully. You may have mentioned something about mining the moon in the past.

I subscribe to the philosophy of Yvon Chouinard, who said;
“The more you know, the less you need.”
and
“Everything we personally own that’s made, sold, shipped, stored, cleaned, and ultimately thrown away does some environmental harm every step of the way, harm that we’re either directly responsible for or is done on our behalf.”

ironically, Yvon Chouinard was one of the great modern innovators in sports and business.

But, I fear humanity does not. They want more and more. Innovation will give that to them. To include our "infestation" of the solar system and eventually beyond.
